Adoption Time Frame
- 10/08 - Started adoption process
- 11/16/08 - First homestudy visit
- 11/18/08 - picked up certified marriage licenses
- 11/22/08 - fingerprinted for homestudy and state police clearance
- 11/23/08-Last homestudy visit
- 11/25/08-medical exams
- 11/08-1/09 - gathered all documents needed for dossier
- 12/30/08 - overnighted I-600A application to USCIS
- 1/2/09 - USCIS cashed check
- 1/12/09 - received final homestudy report and overnighted to USCIS
- 1/20/09 - got all documents notarized (the ones that were not notarized already)
- 1/21/09 - overnighted all documents (except I-171H) to be apostilled (one document to PA, rest to NJ)
- 1/23/09 - Received apostilles back from NJ
- 1/26/09 - received apostilled document from PA; sent dossier (minus I-171H) to Ukraine
- 1/29/09 - facilitator received dossier (minus I-171H) in Ukraine
- 2/2/09 - received letter from USCIS with case number saying they received our I-600A application
- 2/5/09 - received letter from USCIS with date and time of fingerprint appt.
- 2/17/09 - FBI fingerprints for I-600A application
- 04/13/09 - Finally received I-171H!!! overnighted to be apostilled.
- 04/15/09 - received apostilles back - sent final documents to Ukraine!!
- 04/21/09 - facilitator received completed paperwork
- 4/23/09 - dossier registered with SDA - submission date of Sept. 21 given
- 06/09 - updated documents
- 07/13/09 - Dossier submitted to SDA!!!
- 07/30/09 - SDA appointment
- 07/31/09 - met Victoria for the first time
- 08/19/09 - court date
- 09/03/09 - picked up court decree; got new birth certificate
- 09/04/09- legalized birth certificate; tax ID number; applied for passport; VICTORIA'S GOTCHA DAY!!
- 09/09/09- picked up passport
- 09/10/09 - Victoria's medical; applied for visa; started I-601 waiver process
- 09/15/09 - waiver approved; picked up visa; HOME AT LAST!!!

- My name is Jaime. I am wife to a wonderful husband, Joe, and mother to two beautiful daughters, Morgan who is 6 and Victoria who is 4. Victoria joined our family from Ukraine on Sept. 15, 2009. I started this blog for our friends and family to follow our journey to adopt our daughter from Ukraine. I am continuing this blog about our daily life and raising a child with HIV. Maybe in the future it will be used as an adoption blog again??????

ReplyDeletePauline is SUCH an adorable sweet doll! One of her best friends is Olivia who is HOME. I hear when Olivia saw pictures of her friends, she just LIT UP when seeing a photo of Pauline! Olivia wants nothing more than for Pauline to be a Princess with her Family.
